Individuals who wish to earn a degree in business and pursue a career in the retail industry may have an interest in seeing how Macy's plans to boost sales this holiday season. The department store chain has announced that this Thanksgiving, all of its stores will open their doors at midnight.
While stores typically attract huge crowds on Black Friday, Macy's hopes to get a jump-start on the holiday season by extending its hours.
"This year, in response to our customers' eagerness to shop early for great deals, Macy's stores across the country will open for the first time at midnight following Thanksgiving, giving customers the opportunity to get a head start on our extraordinary Black Friday deals," said Terry Lundgren, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macy's.
Macy's will also be offering special promotions to get customers into their stores this season. For instance, for every Justin Bieber fragrance gift set that is sold this Black Friday, the retailer will also donate $2 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
According to The Associated Press, Macy's is not the only retailer opening their doors on Thanksgiving. Whereas Target starting selling at 4 a.m. in 2010, this year, the chain will be open for business at midnight.
