Mobile applications are continuing to become more popular in the business world, as they facilitate an ongoing, anytime connection between companies and their consumer bases.

A recent survey conducted by Robert Half Technology found 22 percent of companies plan to make a mobile app available for customers within the next 12 months, while 27 percent already gives their customers access to an app.

"Because the demand for professionals with a track record of building successful mobile apps currently outpaces the supply, companies are willing to pay a premium for professionals with these skills,"  said John Reed, executive director of Robert Half Technology.

With nearly half of companies giving customers access to a mobile app, students in line to receive a business degree can see how important this technological advancement is within the business world. And those wondering what are of business to specialize in might consider how important information management will be for companies as mobile technology continues to evolve. 

Businesses believe that developing apps can build a better customer connection with their company, according to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.

Eric Ellefson, director of digital development at Click Rain, told the paper that apps help businesses give their customers an opportunity to interact with them in a new, convenient way that can't be replicated through a website or in the store.
