The new IU Executive Ed.D. program, a collaboration between Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and the IU School of Education, will arm students with the skills needed to become quality decision-makers at educational institutions.
"Having two of IU's highest-ranked academic units collaborating to prepare education leaders is a very exciting development," said Gerardo Gonzalez, dean of the School of Education. "Research has consistently shown that the quality of school leaders is one of the most important factors in promoting effective school reform and increasing student achievement."
Students who are accepted into the new program will have a single route to a master's degree in business, as well as an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.
The program aims to create school leaders that will be able to make the decisions to better shape the minds of students, as well as lead the complex business operations of an educational institution.
IU's Kelley School of Business was also recently in the news for being awarded a $33 million grant that will be used in modernizing the undergraduate facilities at the school.
The business school facility is expected to undergo a significant renovation, giving the school better classroom sizes and updated technology allowing students to work with businesses around the world.
